I strongly believe in free and open information. Anyone can view the source code used to generate this webpage and its contents, so why try to hide it? We are at the dawn of a new era of free and open information with strong leaders such as Google and Wikipedia. Open information means that the "logic" behind any webpage is not hidden and users can freely borrow any code they so desire.
Since no one really "owns" the internet, no one can really "own" a website or any code associated with it. If you don't believe me, try hiring me (or some other poor soul) to build your website. Then when it's done, try maintaining it yourself. As browsers change over time, code deprecates and all website will naturally "deteriorate". As your website starts to fall apart, you will be left with the task of patching it back together. "But I don't read XHTML," you will say. Well, then you better learn. "How can I learn?" you will say. And I will say to you, "There are tons of free and open sources of information on everything you need to know in order to maintain a website (HTML, XHTML, CSS, etc.)" Good thing!
